SUPPORTING SEPARATION & DIVORCE

The end of a marriage is not a ‘failure’, but a ‘change’ in life.

A common misconception is that divorce and separation can only have negative outcomes.  In actual fact, it’s a mutual acceptance that your marriage is no longer making you both happy, or fulfilling you both in the way you want it to. It can, and should be seen as a shared problem to navigate and overcome.

Divorce can be seen as an evolution of the family system, not the end of a family.

Divorce in itself isn’t harmful to your children, although a bad divorce is. Your friendship, your life, your mutual shared experiences do not need to be fractured. The end of the marriage does not negate everything that went before – you may have many happy memories of the time you have shared together.

Whether at the dining room table, by way of Collaborative Practice [link to lower down on the page], Mediation or a more High Conflict Divorce [link to lower down on the page], the Mindnlife team offers help and advice to all members of the family unit to ensure a smoother process and prepare you and your children for life after the marriage has ended.

CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE

Collaborative Practice is a new solution that enables disputes to be resolved respectfully, out of court, under the guidance of a team of lawyers and professionals relevant to various areas of your life. The new arrangements are decided on by the couple themselves, with lawyers working together to draw up a mutually acceptable settlement. In other words, no one party ‘wins’.  Remember, the end of a marriage doesn’t always spell the end of a relationship. This is a process that suits couples who wish to part ways amicably and remain friends afterwards. MindNLife offers support and advice to protect the mental wellbeing of the couple and their children and adolescents. This may be in relation to:

–    How best to communicate ‘respectfully’ with a more balanced, neutral approach

–    Unbiased assessment of most suitable arrangements for both the couple and their children

–    Developing a suitable parenting plan:

o   Parental and childcare advice and coordination

o   Understanding and deciding between Collaborative Parenting, Co-Parenting and Parallel Parenting
