Susie Watts

Psychologist (HK)

Susie has 18 years of clinical experience, including psychological assessment for court proceedings, therapeutic intervention, risk assessment, and consultation for parents/carers and educators. Susie provides a variety of evidence-based treatments for children, families, teens and adults. She has extensive experience in a wide range of mental health, social emotional and behavioural challenges, including trauma, attachment, offending and risk-taking behaviour, depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship challenges, grief and low self-esteem.

Early in her career, Susie focused on conducting risk, parenting and psychological assessments for Family and Criminal court proceedings, including comprehensive psychometric and clinical assessment.

Susie then specialised in providing court-ordered individual and group therapeutic interventions for juvenile offenders, victims of sexual abuse, and their families. She has extensive experience of supporting children and families dealing with complex trauma, offending behaviour, and significant emotional disorders.

Susie is accustomed to providing training, consultation to teachers and carers within residential settings, and intensive family support in the community. In the last four years, Susie has expanded her career providing adult therapies using a variety of evidenced-based therapeutic interventions.

Since graduating with her Masters in Forensic Psychology, Susie has completed further postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and an additional Masters in Buddhist Counselling, which integrates traditional psychological techniques with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. She is also trained in Solution-Focused work (SFBT), Mediation techniques, and trauma and attachment-informed approaches. Susie tailors interventions to each client based on their individual needs and strengths, drawing on her vast experience with different approaches.

Susie is a native English speaker from the UK, having moved to Hong Kong in 2021. She provides the optimal, safe and collaborative environment for clients to explore their experiences and gain insight into their own patterns of thought, emotion and behaviour. She facilitates the development of emotional regulation skills, as well as equipping each client with the skills necessary for changing unhelpful patterns of thought and beliefs, managing adversity and challenges, and promoting social and emotional wellbeing, with a view to transforming their experience of the world.
