Lyndsey Gormley, MSS

Psychologist

Lyndsey Gormley is a dedicated psychologist specialising in child (ages 6+), adolescent, and adult mental health, with a focus on trauma, emotional regulation, and resilience-building. With an MSocSc in Counselling from the University of Hong Kong and a Masters in Psychology from Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Lyndsey integrates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) to support clients across developmental stages in processing emotions, developing mindfulness, and aligning actions with personal values. Her work is deeply informed by attachment theory and trauma-informed care, emphasising the therapeutic alliance as a cornerstone of healing.

Lyndsey’s clinical experience includes providing individual and group counselling for children (6-18) and adults in school and community settings, addressing issues ranging from anxiety and depression to complex trauma, neurodiversity, and identity exploration. As a former School Safeguarding Lead, she designed age-appropriate wellbeing programmes, led safeguarding initiatives, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to create inclusive support systems for clients of all ages. Her background in education further enriches her ability to adapt therapeutic techniques creatively across developmental phases, fostering self-expression and emotional literacy.

Committed to community advocacy, Lyndsey has served as a Board Member for Samaritans Hong Kong and a Hotline Counsellor. Originally from the UK and now based in Hong Kong, she brings cultural sensitivity to her intergenerational practice, informed by over a decade of work in international education and mental health. Her approach is collaborative, empathetic, and tailored to each client’s, whether child, teen, or adult, unique journey toward growth and healing.

Lyndsey is a neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQ+ affirming clinician, ensuring her practice is inclusive, validating, and supportive of diverse identities and experiences. She works collaboratively with clients, recognising and celebrating their unique strengths.
